Welcome to Bough Beech Sailing Club

A great, family-friendly sailing club based on one of the largest and most beautiful inland sailing waters in the south east, Bough Beech offers sailing for everyone, no matter what their age or level of experience.
The club is run by its members and has well-supported programmes to develop young sailors as well as teaching adults. For the more experienced, there is a vibrant racing scene with club races and open meetings throughout the year, as well as a keen wind surfing group.  And it is a very pleasant place just to go for a sail.
The sheltered boat park has easy access to the water for launching and the clubhouse offers hot food at the weekends, and a bar.  Social events are organised from time to time.
New members are most welcome.  Do come and visit us and find out more.

Liz Denbigh  |  24-Feb-2014

Congratulations to Connie and Lewis, two of our regular Topper sailors who picked up the 1st Lady and 1st Youth Awards respectively at the end of this year's Icicle Series. Both young sailors were braver than many of the more mature (!) sailors and raced undaunted every week, bat..

Icicle 13 & 14, did the wind veer, back or dither!?

Jon Hill  |  17-Feb-2014

Probably the best racing of the series so far, reasonable breeze, warm, lots of boats and no sounds of splintering carbon fibre, though a hollered 'protest' was heard but never came to fruition! Thanks to Alastair W and crew who arrived to a flat calm when a WSW 2-3 was forecast ..

Icicle 11 & 12 – Who’d be a Race Officer?

Jon Hill  |  09-Feb-2014

A big thank you must go to Richard S for judging today’s conditions so well. The club house anemometer showed SW 20+ gusting to 30+Knts and a simple port handed triangle made it sailable (just) and manageable for the race crew. The marks stayed where they were put and the..

Laser sailing 1/2 February 2014

Mike Nicholls  |  30-Jan-2014

Big weather system is coming through on Saturday - forecast for mid 20 to 30 plus knots from the SW. The good news is that it should have moved off by Sunday leaving a nice mid-teens with gusts from the SW for Sunday's Icicle racing. Although informal SCR is scheduled for Saturda..

Icicle 7 & 8 goes splash ...

Jon Hill  |  27-Jan-2014

The forecast looked horrendous, which probably kept some away whilst others were living it up on the piste, they missed a good day's racing! Forecasting is all about position and timing of those swirly wiggly isobar lines. On Sunday they were on time but I suspect not quite where..
