Glorious Sunshine and a steady breeze made for perfect conditions for the new DragonFlight 95 radio controlled model yacht fleet to try out their boats this Saturday morning.

6 members have bought new boats and fitted them out ready for trial day. With 2 visitors this brought the Dragon 95 class up to 8 boats on the water. One of our visitors was a very experienced RC enthusiast and was of invaluable use to some inexperienced newcomers.

The weather was dry with a gentle NE breeze allowing the boats to be sailed along the club foreshore, giving good entertainment to onlookers and participants.

After some time practising to go in the right direction and sort out the levers! Two races were held which was enlightening in that the boats completed the course and there were some close competition.

Much has still to be learned and organised, but it looks like a new venture. We would welcome any new members either from the existing membership or  new members from elsewhere. “The more the merrier “. At present we will stay with Saturday mornings, normally at 10.00 hrs with the option of another time if there is a demand. Specifically we will meet at 10.00 on Saturday 27th April, then with open meetings in May we will meet at 12noon on the 4th May and at 12 noon on 18th and 25th May. On 11th May (PTBO day) we will meet at 10.00 hrs, this to give demonstration to visitors on this open day for the public. After May Saturdays are relatively clear to keep a 10 am start.
