Lasers, including the standard rig, radial and 4.7 rigs form one of the largest classes at Bough Beech.
Bough Beech actively promotes the class, and has two Lasers with all three rigs as part of its general hire fleet. Just ask a fellow Laser sailor if you need a hand rigging them.
There is a Laser fleet start for the two races held on a Sunday morning from March to December, and we generally have around ten boats on the line. Lasers also take part in the handicap races on Sunday afternoons throughout the year, Sunday mornings in January and February (the open Icicle series) and Thursday evenings in the summer.
The emphasis in the fleet is on nice friendly and fun racing. Everybody is welcome – from the absolute newbie to seasoned racers. The best day to meet fellow Laser sailors is on Sunday morning, but you’ll see them out and about on all club racing days. The fleet usually organises a couple of training days each year that caters for all standards of sailor.
The Bough Beech Laser Open features as an annual event in the South East area Grand Prix. For more information on sailing a Laser at Bough Beech contact the Laser Class Captain or walk up to a Laser sailor and say hello.
