Lasers, including the standard rig, radial and 4.7 rigs form one of the largest classes at Bough Beech. The Laser Class is supported by the RYA as part of their “Development Pathway”; the 4.7 is generally seen as a useful transition class from Junior to Youth single hander. Bough Beech actively promotes the class, and has a Laser with all three rigs as part of its general hire fleet. We organise fleet training twice a year with a UKLA coach, and several Lasers attend the regular Saturday morning informal short course racing intended as a friendly introduction to racing.
Laser Open: 2 May 2020
Club Laser Fleet racing: 2 races Sunday mornings Mar-Dec as specified in the club calendar
There is a Laser fleet start for the two races held on a Sunday morning from March to December, and we generally have around ten boats on the line (mixture of Radial and Standard). Lasers also take part in the handicap races on Sunday afternoons throughout the year, Sunday mornings in January and February (the open Icicle series) and Thursday evenings in the summer. The Bough Beech Laser Open features as an annual event in the South East area Grand Prix. For more information on sailing a Laser at Bough Beech contact the Laser Class Captain.
