After a boisterous opening to the Icicle, we have had two, mostly fine Sundays of light and variable westerlies which, because of the orientation of Bough Beech reservoir, is trickier for race teams and competitors alike. Bough Beech SC's Open Icicle Series got off to a cracking start on 2 January with nearly 50 boats on the water, including some twenty visiting crews from ten clubs. Radio Controlled Yacht Racing at Bough Beech

The RC yacht group was formed in 2019, in the late summer before Covid struck. At the time we had 14 members, during restrictions we lost 6 members which reduced us to a hard core of 8. Right from the beginning we chose to race a one design class of Dragon Flyte (DF) 95s, this being suitable for our conditions on the lee shore of the reservoir. Covid 19 – Dont Forget Your Face Mask

Following the Government’s new rules to mitigate the spread of the new Omicron virus which came into force on 10 December, we have had confirmation from the RYA that face coverings must be worn in communal areas of sailing club premises.  For BBSC this means the entrance and stairs, changing rooms (except when showering,) Club room (except when eating or drinking,) and the Race Office.
